LEATHER BAGS COLLECTION

La Débraillée

La Débraillée was an independent leather goods brand founded and developed by Alice Rosignoli between Paris and Italy from 2015 to 2024. Conceived through a product design approach, the project explored bags and accessories as functional objects shaped around movement, everyday gestures and urban life.

The name comes from a French term describing someone unconcerned with appearances, more attentive to comfort, practicality and freedom of movement. This attitude defined the collection from the beginning, positioning the object beyond seasonal fashion and closer to everyday use.

La Débraillée translated principles of industrial and functional design into a reduced collection of bags and accessories, where each piece originated from practical needs and observation, adapting naturally to different situations, rhythms and ways of living within the city.

Produced in Italy in collaboration with specialised workshops in the Marche region, the collection used upcycled leather sourced from surplus materials from local high-end manufacturers. The core collection in black remained continuous over time, while additional colours were introduced through limited editions determined by the availability of recovered materials, making each series finite and non-repeatable.

Through small-scale production and long-term use, La Débraillée explored a more conscious approach to consumption, focusing on durability, adaptability and reduced waste.

The bag collection explored versatility and adaptability through a series of pieces designed around specific everyday situations and gestures.

The B01 Pouch was conceived as a wrist pouch designed to keep the hands free while moving through the city — from taking the subway to cycling, walking the dog or carrying groceries. The B02 Crossbody could transform into a clutch by folding the strap into an integrated pocket, shifting naturally between practical and more formal use.

The B03 Trompe-l’œil Belt Bag combined the appearance of a pochette with the functionality of a belt bag, allowing the piece to remain elegant while being securely worn around the waist. The B04 Clutch featured a central shearling-lined hand pocket designed to keep the hands warm during winter use.

The B05 Tote and B06 Satchel incorporated an external compartment designed to temporarily hold jackets or garments while moving through transitional situations such as cycling, commuting or visiting museums.

The B07 Backpack transformed into a tote bag through a folding strap system, adapting from everyday mobility to more formal contexts. The B08 Bum Bag focused on essential versatility, while the B09 Drawstring Backpack explored lightweight construction and flexible use. The B10 Shoulder Bag featured an adjustable strap allowing it to shift from a short shoulder bag to a comfortable crossbody depending on movement and use.

The accessory collection extended the same functional approach to smaller everyday objects designed around accessibility, mobility and organisation.

The A01 Necklace Scouby Keyrings explored the relationship between utility and ornament, allowing keys to be worn directly around the neck. The A02 Card Holder Keyring combined storage and accessibility, functioning both as a keyring and as a compact holder for transport cards, credit cards or gym passes designed to remain immediately accessible without searching inside the bag.

The A03 Travel Case unfolded into a large display surface conceived to organise personal belongings while travelling. The A04 Phone Bag allowed the phone to be worn directly around the neck, keeping it constantly accessible while moving through the city.
